"Do you see? I see..." - 2024


 I guess it's hard to explain...

There's a moment when you start to see patterns... you see how many things, actions, words, feelings, are connected. How so many of your friends are going through exactly the same challenges you face, just different scenarios. How people always leave, for some new ones to come. How everything dies and is reborn. And blooms again. And in the end everything will be okay....



In my head this painting was born as "practice for oil painting", my 2nd ever oil painting.

Done between December 3rd - January 3rd, 2024. In 7 nights. 40x30cm.

  This one, I'm not sure why, I was just procrastinating to upload it anywhere! I think is because I don't love it, but I keep coming back to it somehow. Still, here it is. Piedad - 2024

 No se ni por donde empezar... Piedad. Creada entre Enero 23 - Mayo 14, 2024. Alrededor de 12 noches. Pintura Acrílica. 100x70cm. Inspirada en Pietà, by  William-Adolphe Bouguereau. Estos ultimos dos años, la violencia y el machismo en Costa Rica se han disparado. Da miedo. Da rabia e impotencia. Da deseperanza. Y siento que para muchas personas, para muchos hombres cis hetero, es demasiado facil simplemente mirar a otro lado. Cómo no? Si no les afecta personalmente. Para las personas en poder, las instituciones en poder, para les incluso policias, es tan facil simplemente agregar un número mas a la lista... Y luego ir, y persignarse en frente de "Dios".  Queria mostrarles el dolor de frente. Que lo vean. Vean el sufrimiento que causa su ignorancia. El sufrimiento que causan sus instituciones, su presidente, sus chistes, sus creencias. Costa Rica católica, lloran por Jesus cada semana santa... escuchan los gritos de María...
